In Loving Memory: Reserve Officer Lou Toman

We regret to inform you that Retired Reserve Officer Lou Toman passed away on November 18, 2025.

Born May 23, 1935, to Lou and Madelyn Toman in Trenton, New Jersey. The family moved to Coral Gables, Florida, when he was young. After high school, they moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He attended the University of Florida for two years, then took a summer job in the Photography Department at the Fort Lauderdale News, now known as the Sun Sentinel. He never returned to school and retired from the Sun Sentinel 53 years later.

He was a Reserve Police Officer with the Plantation Police Department in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

After retirement, he worked part-time for Auto Nation, volunteered at the Sheriff’s Department, and joined a gun club. He enjoyed everything he did in life. He was a people person. He liked everybody.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, and his eldest son, Craig (Jennifer), and his youngest son, Phil. Brother-in-law Fred (Kelly), niece Cathy, nephew Fred (Alyssa), and their son Tyson.

There will be a Celebration of Life on December 13, 2025, at the Plantation Preserve in Plantation, Florida, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
