In Loving Memory: Officer Willie L. Lindsay

Willie Lee Lindsay Sr. was born November 17, 1943, to his parents, the late Joseph David Lindsay and Ella Lindsay. On May 12, 2025, he departed from this world leaving a legacy of love and memories.

Throughout his life, Willie was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of many years, Carolyn Priester Lindsay (Deceased). He was a proud father to his sons Willie Lindsay Jr., Samuel Bernard Lindsay, his daughter Sharon Lindsay (Deceased) and David Anthony Smith. His grandchildren David Lindsay, Joel Lindsay (Tiffany), Alexis Lindsay, Willie Lindsay III, Jasmine Lindsay, Deja Lindsay, Christian Lindsay, and a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren was a constant source of joy in his life.

Willie journey through life was mark by dedication and hard work. He served his country and his community. He graduated from Lake Shore High School in Belle Glade, Florida and furthered his career where he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Sergeant Lindsay was a decorative war veteran. After being honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, Willie started his career in law enforcement with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and joined the Plantation Police Department for 17 years.

Willie had a deep love for his family, which was evident in every aspect of his life. He had a passion for music, dancing and hunting. Willie had a saying that became famous to his family and friends that we all have adapted to. When you ask Willie why are you doing that, he would always respond with “THAT’S WHAT WILLIE DO”. 


In addition to his immediate family Willie leaves behind many loved ones, including his sibling Archie Lindsay (Deceased), Bernice Lindsay Patrick (Deceased), Massaline Lindsey Thomas (Benjamin), Anthony Lindsey (Jacqueline), Debbie Lindsey Douglas – Master Sergeant, Retired U.S. Army (Pastor Martin R. Douglas), A special niece Nedra Lindsay Simpson. His memory is cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. All who was touched by his warmth and kindness. Willie had a special bond with his cousin John Seabrook and his partner and friend Steve Miller.

In his passing Willie leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work and devotion that will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of sharing in his life’s journey.
